One Body
A poem about interconnectedness, embodiment, and the community that sustains us.
1. Feet we stand tall our connection to the earth bearing pressure pushing toes in the dirt growing roots like trees that grove stretch out, intertwined come and shake with us bending and quaking holding each other through the elements 2. Uterus nature trusted woman to be a home to be the bearer to look inward to love, to hold to grow a garden the kaleidoscope of possibilities within her call out! who feels this responsibility more deeply than she? 3. Lungs in and out the atmosphere enters borne upon wings of air we rise, resurrected anew this holy alchemy of air and blood muscle and energy, each moment a chance to open and to release 4. Mouth the technology of our species is our mouth how the roll of our tongue and bud of our lips create meaning, our energy siphoned up through tangled roots into the ears of another, who, like ourselves, is full of cries and song, longing, and story
A note on language: I have chosen to use “woman” and “she/her” pronouns, as reflective of my own personal experience. It is not meant to deny or limit trans men or non-binary people are also entrusted with uteruses. They are a part of the community of voices and stories worthy of care, compassion, and inclusion.
If reading from another point of view, my hope is you replace the words with ones that speak to you.

Love!
